Once Bill Owen has finished creating a painting or drawing, prior to sending the piece to a show or a collector, it is professionally photographed. The resulting transparency is kept as a record, and since Bill retains the copyrights, he may allow a magazine to use an image for a cover or use several of his images in an article or book to show his work, and he occasionally decides to make the image available as a limited edition reproduction. You may order the reproductions shown below, on the 'Open Edition" and 'Note Cards' pages, and more, by calling Toh-Atin Gallery and Publishing Company at 800-509-3888, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some of the items shown here may be sold out but if an item is shown on Toh-Atin's website they have it in stock.

Reproduction terms/definitions:

Fine Art Color Lithographs
An affordable color reproduction of an original watercolor or oil painting printed on paper. The purchaser typically has the print matted and framed under glass.
Fine Art Duo Tones
This is a reproduction of an original drawing printed on paper in varying shades of gray and black, which results in wonderful detail and definition. This type of reproduction is also typically matted and framed under glass.
Fine Art Giclée reproductions
This is the latest reproduction technique which has become a very popular art print media accomplished by computerized Giclée print machines which spray fine droplets of ink; about as small as an ink dot can be without evaporating on the way to the print surface. The machines use 3 to 8 more ink colors than traditional lithograph print machines, therefore, have the capacity to produce a much wider range of color with 512 chromatic changes and about 10 million color possibilities. The Giclée reproductions soon to be offered here are printed on canvas and will be shipped to you rolled. Your framer will mount on stretcher bars and frame these wonderful reproductions exactly the same as they would an original painting - no glass, therefore, far less glare!

Two other options available for your consideration:

Artist Proofs

When a limited edition is printed, typically 10% over and above the edition size is designated as a separate edition, if you will, known as Artist Proofs, and they are numbered as such. For example, AP 10/25. They are widely viewed as more desireable because there are less in the "edition". Therefore, they considered to be more valuable and why the initial price is higher than identical lithographs out of the edition; and why some people collect only Artist Proofs.

Canvas Transfers
This is a process whereby a color lithograph image is lifted off of the paper it is printed on and transferred onto canvas. The finished product gives the appearance of an original at a very affordable price.
